About DVD-ROM

All duplicates are superb in quality when made from a digital master. DVD-ROM technology allows us to place an entire day's digitized deposition video (up to 8-hours of VHS quality video) onto one DVD-ROM. DVD files may contain video, animation, scanned documents, images or computer data. The DVD-ROM can then be viewed on any computer equipped with a DVD drive.

A two hour MPEG-2 DVD-R/W recording can be viewed on most home DVD players. Using this media with a DVD equipped laptop you can prepare for a witness at home or on the road. Disc capacity is up to 4.7 gigabytes of information. Because of this larger capacity DVD is fast becoming the portable media of choice.

MPEG Video Encoding

We can process videos into the standard MPEG-1. This format provides the attorney with depositions which can be viewed on most laptop computers equipped with a standard CD-ROM drive. Up to two hours of deposition can be copied onto each CD-ROM disk.

We can also copy the processed video  directly to a computer's hard drive. Reasonably priced hi-speed portable hard drives that connect directly to your computer via a firewire or usb cable are available. A 40 Gigabyte hard drive can hold over 60 hours of instantly accessible video testimony.

A standard DVD-R/W disc can hold 8 hours of deposition. MPEG-1 encoded video of deposition testimony can by using special software be synchronized with the ASCII text of a transcript, so that the video can be displayed alongside the testimony, or to ease finding a particular video segment based solely on the page and line number from the transcript.*

No additional software is needed to play the digital video on any windows computer. Windows media player will play the video and audio right on the desktop by double clicking on the file name. The slider bar at the bottom of the media player screen allows quick access to any time of day. When opened in conjunction with a time-stamped transcript testimony can be easily reviewed.

We can also duplicate any audio or videotapes that you have, transferring the original information onto nearly any tape format (foreign or domestic),  CD-ROM or DVD-ROM.

*Following are just some of the litigation support software packages that feature transcript and video synchronization.
